Map of the low-emission zone in Angers
The low-emission zone of Angers is marked orange on the map. The entire historic city and most of the suburbs fall within the zone. Still accessible are the train station (1 on the map), the large Espace Anjou shopping center (2) and the flower market or marché d’intérêt national (3). The roads to the latter two are indicated by blue lines.
On the map it looks like that the A11, the French highway that links Paris and Nantes, passes through the low-emission zone for a short distance. Although this is actually the case, the A11 goes underground here. This stretch is marked in red at the top left of the map. An emissions sticker is not required here.
The low-emission zone of Angers
The zone à faibles émissions (ZFE) of the Angers Loire Métropole, as the low-emission zone of Angers is officially called, operates day and night. Unlike in some other French low-emission zones, there are no different rules for passenger and goods traffic. The beginning of the low-emission zone is signposted along major roads.
Parking outside the low-emission zone
Were you unable to get an emissions sticker in time or do you have an older car that does not qualify for the sticker? Then you can park in Angers at a parc relais (P+R) at the edge of the low-emission zone. From here you can then take a tramway to the city center.
- P+R Hauts de St-Aubin: boulevard Jacqueline Auriol, 250 parking spaces, Verneau stop on line A.
- La Galeria Espace Anjou: avenue Montaigne, 2,300 parking spaces, Montaigne stop on line B (400 meter walk, other side railroad tracks).
- P+R Roseraie: boulevard Robert d’Arbrissel, 180 parking spaces, stop Roseraie lines A and C.
- Saint Laud 2: rue Auguste Gautier, 576 parking spaces, walking distance from central station.
- P+R La Barre: boulevard Victor Beaussier, 200 parking spaces, stop La Barre lines B and C.
Except at the central station (Saint Laud 2), parking is free on all P+R terrains mentioned above. The advantage of parking near the station is that you can walk to the city center quite easily, but it is more difficult to find a free spot.
Which emissions sticker in Angers?
All colors of the French emissions sticker are allowed in Angers. Only if you do not have an emissions sticker fixed to your windshield will you receive a fine.
