Low-emission zone of Annecy
Like many other French cities, Annecy in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France, has implemented a low-emission zone on 1 January 2025. Within this low-emission zone, an emissions sticker is mandatory for motorized vehicles. On this page you will find a map and more practical information about the low-emission zone in Annecy. Are you also visiting other French cities? Then check out our overview of all low-emission zones. You can read more about the emissions sticker itself on our home page.
Map of the low-emission zone in Annecy
The low-emission zone of Annecy is shown in orange on the map and covers almost the entire urban area. Only the suburbs of Poisy, Epagny Metz-Tessy, Pringy and Argonay, to the west and north of the city, lie largely outside the low-emission zone. To the west and north, the D3508, the D1203 and the D916 form the boundary of the zone instead. To the south and east, the boundary is at the end of the built-up area.
There are also a number of roads on which an emissions sticker is not required. First and foremost is the A41 that connects Annecy to Geneva in Switzerland and Chambéry further south. On the map, the part of the A41 within the low-emission zone is indicated by a red line.
Then there are major roads through which you can reach parking lots to transfer to public transportation. On the map they are indicated by blue lines. They are the boulevard de la Rocade, the avenue du Crêt du Maure, the avenue du Rhône, the avenue d’Aix-les-Bains, the route des Creuses, the avenue de la Plaine, part of the avenue de Brogny and the avenue du Petit Port.
The low-emission zone of Annecy
The low-emission zone of Annecy is in effect day and night, seven days a week. Officially, the zone is often referred to as the zone à faibles émissions (ZFE) of Grand Annecy. The latter is a collaboration between Annecy and 33 surrounding municipalities.
Parking outside the low-emission zone
Were you unable to get an emissions sticker in time or does your car not qualify? Then you can always park on the edge of the low-emission zone. Annecy has designated several parking lots for this purpose where you can easily transfer to public transportation.
- Gare de Pringy: on Rue de la Gare
- Pré Billy: still under construction
- Les Glaisins: still under construction
- Petit Port: on the D909 (avenue de Chavoires)
- Colmyr: on the D1508 (rue des Marquisats)
- Barral: accessed via rue de l’Orme
- Cap Periaz: on the chemin de Château Vieux
- Sous Vernod Poisu: on the route de Rumilly
In most French cities, these types of parking lots are called parking relais (P+R), but in Annecy they are known as pôles d’échanges multimodau (PEM). These are always near bus lines, as Annecy has no tramway or metro. From Gare de Pringy, however, you can also take a train to downtown Annecy.
Which emissions sticker in Annecy?
From 1 January 2025, all colors of the French emissions sticker will be allowed into the Annecy low-emission zone. Only vehicles that do not qualify for any sticker will not be allowed to enter the zone. The plan is to tighten the policy incrementally up to 2030. The first vehicles to be banned in the coming years will be those with and burgundy (4) or gray (5) sticker. Specific plans are not yet in place.

If you drive 50 kilometers south, the sticker is required in Chambéry and after another 50 kilometers in Grenoble. Over 150 kilometers west of Annecy, the sticker is required in Lyon.
